Coverage for Contractors
You build everything else on a solid foundation. Your family's coverage deserves one too.

Framers, electricians, plumbers, GCs, remodelers — the building trades are the backbone of every growing metro, and almost all of it runs on 1099s and small crews with no group plan in sight.
Private PPO coverage fits the trades: enroll any month between jobs, keep it through slow seasons and boom years alike, and carry a real network for a line of work where the occasional ER visit is a matter of when, not if.
The problems we hear every week
Physical work, no safety net
The trades carry real injury risk, and going uninsured turns one ladder fall into a financial catastrophe.
Feast-and-famine income vs. subsidy rules
A big commercial job can push the year's income past the cliff and erase your subsidy retroactively.
Crews too small for group plans
Three guys and a truck doesn't get workable small-group quotes in most counties.
A private PPO tends to fit when you're…
- ✦Independent tradesmen and subcontractors without employer coverage
- ✦GC households needing family coverage on variable income
- ✦Healthy contractors quoted painful unsubsidized marketplace rates
- ✦Crew leaders wanting a personal answer before a group one

Questions we get from contractors
Does health insurance cover on-the-job injuries?
Health plans and workers' comp interact differently depending on your setup as an independent contractor. Raise it with your advisor — it's an important question to settle before you need the answer.
Can I pause coverage during slow season?
You can cancel anytime, but re-qualifying means underwriting again. Most contractors keep coverage continuous for exactly that reason.
What about my helpers or subs?
Each can apply individually — send them our way and an advisor will treat them right.
